You have done a really great job on your site. I am looking for information. Anything anyone could tell me would help. If you remember Cyrus Elswick, please send me an email. He is my uncle and he passed away last week. All I can find military wise is a picture of Company A graduating class C.R.T.C. taken July 30, 1951. It has the following names on it: (if any sound familiar please let me know) E. R. Reidelbach 1st Sgt. , Capt W F Eggerman Comdg, and Martin (I think it is old and can't see for sure) Kennelly. If anyone knows anything about this unit or these people, please let me know. I am interested in the fact that my Uncle stated that he got a lady pregnant that was in Germany. She was in a camp and he kidnapped her over the fence and took her. But he got caught and they took her back. His son should be about 50ish now. He never had any children other than this. He adopted a little boy that was mentally and physically deformed. They raised him and he passed away about 1998. I would love to make contact with his son and let him know about his father. One of his officers sent him a picture of his son and a letter with his name in it. So, I know he is looking too. I have been unable to locate this, but hopefully I will. Genealogy is something from my heart and I hope to be able to add his son to my family and my family tree. I have 2 small kids and he loved them so much. I could not have even imaged if he knew he had grandchildren or possibly great grandchildren by now. Thanks so much and I hope someone will see this and respond.
Thanks so much
Paula

I served with the 5/83 Arty in Baumholder from 1961 to 1963. Got extended twice - Berlin and Cuban missle crisis. Played baseball & basketball for the 8th Divarty. Got to travel a lot and see many things. Wouldn't take a million for those days, but wouldn't do it again for a million either! Does anyone know what happened to the 83rd after 1963?

On August, 10, 1951 we arrived in Bremerhaven. After a few days there we went to Sontohofen where I was assigned to an engineer co. in Kaiserslautern. After a few weeks there I was assigned to the 504th Eng. Svc. Co. attached to the 7812th S.C.U. at Pirmasens. That area had been the French Occupation Zone. When the Americans moved in it was called The Rhine Military Post with headquarters in Kaiserslautern. The post had 5 sub-posts, Pirmasens, Baumholder, Bad Krueznac, Worms and Mainz. When we got to Pirmasens only 2 buildings were occupied, the rest were being built. The mess hall wasn't finished so we were eating in a garage which was also the beer hall. The chow was good and we had no K.P. no guard duty, no reville and no M.Ps. We never had it better. Like all good things that came to pass. Once they got organized things really changed and they made us feel we were back in the army. My job was in engineer supplies, I visited all the sub-posts getting equipment. I went to bull-dozer school in Murnau in The Bavarian Alps. It was real nice there. Any town in the area that wanted a soccer field could have the army build it. They had the cranes, graders and dozers to level the land. That's all for now. Jack

Hello,

My name is Florian Giro, I am from Massweiler, Germany. I am still working on a project to research the history of US Army in Massweiler which is in danger of slipping into oblivion. During the Years from the 50th`s until the early 90th`s the following units were stationed at the old base in Massweiler:
12th Ordnance Bataillon
529th Ordnance Company
564th MP Company
207th Signal Company
63rd Signal Bataillon
To realize the project I need Your help in the form of stories, pictures or information about the history of these units. Meanwhile I´m in contact with many veterans who was stationed in Massweiler during different time periods.
I´ve also collected many pictures from the old base, from nowadays and even from the past. So if You can support my project please contact me.

I´m sure that I can bring back some nice memories to you!

Looking forward to hearing from!

Thank You in advance!!!
Florian

I like your homepage. It’s great ,many informations.
The Nashville Line Dancers Aalen (NLDA) have been performing this dance style with great enthusiasm already for several years. The group performs more than 150 dances of the category Country Line Dance and is regarded as one of Germany’s top Show Line Dancers. Elvis songs are presented in the best Line Dance fashion.
‘’Tribute To The King Of Music & Viva Las Vegas Dance Show’’ – their dance show is viewed as unique in Germany. They also act as background dancers in the show of the great, internationally well known Elvis double Jack Favor, who is also known as ‘’Eifel-Elvis’’,
‘’ the best Elvis since Elvis ’’.
Their many performances speak for themselves: NLDA is Line Dance Show at it’s best.
NLDA targets at having Line Dance (which originally supported only Country and Western Music) mingled with other music styles such as Elvis music, pop music etc.
Thus Line Dance shall be opened to a broader audience and it shall be shown to the puplic, how divers this dance style with nowadays more than 4000 different dances can be.
If you like, you can sign our guestbook.

More Information about and contact to NLDA you get at: http:// www.nlda.de or
E-Mail: linedancersnlda@aol.com
