Was stationed at W.O.Darby 1985-86 Srvc. Battery 1/94th FA (deactived 1986), was transfered to Monteith Barracks B Co. 123rd Trans 1st AD until 1988. Looking for anybody for those units around that time frame, also those that went to Germany from Delta Co. 1/3rd ACR (Ft. Bliss TX) between 1980-1983. Woot BullDogs! Anthony Moore...etc. Kind of sad to see that W.O. Darby and Montieth Barracks Kaserns were closed. Had a lot of fun there. Planning a trip back to the area in 2008.

Great web site. I sailed from N.Y. to Bremerhaven in July '64. Took the train to Heilbronn. Was stationed with the 23rd Ordnance Co. at Badnerhof Kaserne. I was a wheeled vehicle mechanic in the motor pool. Left for SVN in March,'66 and wound up in Thailand. ETS'd in Feb.'67. Had a great time in both places. Anyone remember me send an e-mail.

I served at Tompkins Barracks at Schwetzingen from March, 1967 until October, 1968. I was first assigned the 11th Engr Augmentation Gp under Headquarters Co, 11th Engr Gp with duties at the 7th Army Bridge Park under SFC "Pappy" Wiedner (where just three GIs were assigned)until the German Labor Forces took total charge of the Bridge Park in the Fall of '67. I was then transferred to the 530th Engr Co (PB) where I served simultaneously as the company armorer, the CBR specialist, the mail clerk, a supply clerk , and the CO's driver as the company had a manpower shortage.

I have fond memories of my tour in Germany and would like to hear from anyone that was assigned to Headquarters Co, 11th Engr Gp or the 530th Engr Co in the time period that I was there. I was referred to as Herbie in those days.

I was with the 3/63 Armor Augsburg 1975 to1977. I recently went back it all looked the same, but the gates to Sheridan were padlocked. They were in the process of tearing down the PX. Pretty sad. The last Chance was still standing but boarded up. The Bonanza was completely gone. Again pretty sad.

Enjoyed your site. It brought back a lot of good and bad memories. I was assigned to an Ordnance company in Karlsrue and Mannheim from 1957-1960 and as of this date I have been able to locate only two soldiers that I served with during this time. Where did all the rest go to??

Keep up the good work we all need it.

Peace to all.

I maintained the records of the 529th Ord group, 564th MP co, 579th Ord Co., 164th MP co, 22nd Aviation, and Pal Det. I later maintained all of the companies morning reports attached to HHC 59th Ord Group. Great memories, thanks for your effort in perserving them. I was lucky I didn't go to VN. I pray for those who did. I pray for the injured and the lost. They are honorable Veterans.

My Grandfather, John Zygo, served in World War II in the 3rd Army. After the war ended he spent some time serving as a guard at Nuremberg. I'm trying to find more information on his service and anyone who served with him. He died in 1979 when I was still very young, so I never got to learn anything from him.
