Grandfather is Frank H. Tweedie. He was assigned to the 312th Base Post Office. He was sent to Germany I believe on September 25, 1952. He was drafted so he had to do at least 21 months of service. He did his service at the Frankfurt Military Post. He was a Private First Class and was a railway mail guard. If anyone knows him, served with him, or knows anything about the 312th Base Post Office, email me at wingman93@cox.net.

Thank You,

Cory Tweedie

Served with C-2/2 ADA 32nd AADCOM 73-76, 69th Chemical Company 1st Armored Division 79-82, CENTAG 83-86. C 2/2 was my first duty assignment out of AIT(76Y). In hind sight, I wish I had re-uped for an ADA MOS and stayed in EUROPE. It was the best duty anywhere! I ended up getting reclassified as a 54E (NBC) and that MOS blew. I remember SP5 Crawford telling me, then a PFC, if anyone ever mentioned being a CBR NCO to run as fast as I could in the opposite dicection.

I'm looking for Gudrun Daeschner, born May 1.1944 in Passau. In 1969 she lived in Munich in the Balan Strasse 23, her landlord's name was Mr Weaver (Webermann). Gudrun worked as a waitress in the "S C H M U C K K A S T`L" in Munich, a gasthaus often visited by GI ´s.
Gudrun's mother's name is / was Katharina Brennauer.
Gudrun had a daughter, Pia Sabine Stock, born Jan. 25, 1966, whom I am also trying to locate. It is very likely that Gudrun Daeschner changed her name after marriage. It is possible she married a US soldier and is now living in the United States of America. This assumption, because all records of registration with German officials cease in 1970.

It is also very likely, that Pia also has a different last name, due to marriage.

All and any info regarding Gudrun and Pia is greatly appreciated.

I have been deployed to Germany and seen much of the country. United States military presence in Germany is quite small now. I remember the late seventies and early eighties, this place was just busting with military folks. Oh well on one last go around here before retiring next year. It's been a great ride and I will never forget my time in Germany, ever.
Time moves on and so will I, to all who come after me remember all the people who came before and sacrificed much, we owe them everything.

pops was 'the Chief" @ 583'd Ord Co from mid 1975 to late 1978. He passed away last year. The family lived in Handorf, as there was no "on base housing" ~ hell, there was hardly a US base at all! As I recall, ther was just two 2-story barracks buildings, and a building that served as church, messhall & movie theatre. I dont know ho wthe enlisted troops felt about the place, but for my 3 brothers and myself, it was the best years of our lives. that's all I really wnated to add.

Thank you for your service to our country and to preserving the history of Army units serving in the European Theater and in Germany. I am a collector of military insignia (shoulder patches) and have a number that were made for Army units by German manufacturers. They are beautifully crafted as contrasted to the common patches that you see. My specific interests are in the U.S. Constabulary, ADSEC COMZ and later organizations and units that served in Italy and in Austria during the Occupation after World War II.
