            Inf Div | 1945-1955 | The "Big 
            Red One" Division remained in Germany after WWII as one of the 
            Occupation units (as of Jan 1947, it was the "only" division 
            left in Germany). During this period the division's headquarters was 
            moved several times: Ansbach, Bad Tölz, Grafenwöhr, Darmstadt. 
            In 1952, the division moved its headquarters to Würzburg where 
            it remained until 1955 when the division returned to the United States. |

            Inf Div | 1955-1958 | The "Mountain" 
            Division was the first division to be moved to Germany under the "Operation 
            Gyroscope" concept. It officially replaced the 1st Inf Div in 
            Würzburg on 27 September 1955. |

            Inf Div | 1958-1996 | The "Marne" 
            Division moved to Germany as part of Operation Gyroscope in early 
            1958, officially replacing the 10th Inf Div on 23 April 1958 at Würzburg. 
            The division remained stationed in the northern Bavaria sector of 
            Germany throughout its stay in Germany. The 3rd was reflagged as the 
            1st Infantry Division in April 1996. |

            Inf Div | 1951-1956 | The "Ivy" 
            Division was the first of four divisions to be deployed to Germany 
            as part of the "Troop Augmentation" progam in 1951. The 
            division was officially assigned to Seventh Army on 28 May 1951, with 
            all of its elements arriving in Germany between May-June 1951. Division 
            headquarters was located at Frankfurt. |

            Armd Div | 1956-1992 | The "Spearhead" 
            Division officially replaced the 4th Inf Div in Germany on 9 June 
            1956. The division was stationed in the Frankfurt area until it "cased 
            its colors" at Drake Kaserne on 17 January 1992. |

            Armd Div | 1951-1957 | The 2nd Armored 
            Division was the second combat division to arrive in Germany under 
            the Troop Augmentation program and was officially assigned to Seventh 
            Army on 15 June 1951. The division's headquarters was located at Bad 
            Kreuznach. | 
         
          | 7 | 4th 
            Armd Div | 1957-1971 | The 4th Armored 
            Division deployed to Germany in 1957 as part of Operation Gyroscope. 
            It officially replaced the 2nd Armd Div on .. | 
         
          | 8 | 43rd 
            Inf Div | 1951-1954 | The "Victory" 
            Division arrived in Germany in 1951 as the third combat division deployed 
            under the Troop Augmentation program. The 43rd was officially assigned 
            to Seventh Army on 21 October 1951. Division headquarters was located 
            at Augsburg. |

            Inf Div | 1954-1956 | The "Red 
            Diamond" Division was activated on 24 May 1954 in Augsburg, replacing 
            the 43rd Inf Div. On 31 March 1956, the 5th Inf Div is replaced by 
            the 11th Abn Div and returns to the United States. |

            Abn Div | 1956-1958 | In 
            March 1956 the 11th Airborne Division was rotated to Augsburg, Germany 
            as part of Operation Gyroscope. On 31 March 1956, the 11th officially 
            replaces the 5th Inf Div. The 11th Airborne Division was inactivated 
            in Augsburg on 1 July 1958. Two of its Airborne Battle Groups were 
            reassigned to the 24th Infantry Division, the division that replaced 
            the "Angels" in Augsburg. |

            Inf Div | 1958-1969 | On 1 July 1958, 
            the 24th Infantry Division was activated in Augsburg. The division 
            was organized as a "composite" division with two airborne 
            battle groups which had prsviously been part of the 11th Abn Div. 
            The division remained in Germany until 1969 when it redeployed to 
            the United States as part of the REFORGER (Return of Forces to Germany) 
            program. |

            Inf Div | 1951-1954 | The "Keystone" 
            Division was the last of the "troop augmentation" divisions 
            to arrive in Germany in 1951. On 26 November 1951, the division was 
            officially assigned to the Seventh Army. The division's headquarters 
            was located at Göppingen. | 
         
          | 13 | 9th 
            Inf Div | 1954-1956 | The "Old 
            Reliables" were reactivated on 24 May 1954 at Göppingen, 
            Germany, replacing the 28th Inf Div. | 
         
          | 14 | 8th 
            Inf Div | 1956-1992 | The 8th Infantry 
            Division arrived in Germany in August 1956 to switch places with the 
            9th Inf Div as part of Operation Gyroscope. Originally located at 
            Göppingen, the division's headquarters moved to Bad Kreuznach 
            in ... The 8th Infantry Division was reorganized as a "composite" 
            division on 1 December 1958, so that it could assume the airborne 
            support responsibility previously held by the 24th Infantry Division. 
            One brigade contained all the airborne assets. The division was reflagged 
            as the 1st Armd Div on 17 Jan 1992. |
