A view of our 80-foot UHF tower from its base: you can see some of the 16 sets of supporting guy wires which kept it from falling over. (One of the ground anchors for this network is visible on the right side of the preceding photograph, below the truck's left front bumper.) The platform at the top had the same kind of mesh floor as the tower sections, but standing on it was VERY disquieting: looking down, the mesh was invisible; it was like being in mid-air -- unsupported!
