Echterdingen Army Airfield (Private collection, Walter Elkins) Several types of fixed-wing aircraft lined up on the flight line. Occasion is unknown, but event probably occurred in 1952 or 1953. Several planes are organic to combat units stationed in Germany as they are adorned with unit insignia - USAREUR, Seventh Army and an Armored Division symbol are clearly recognizable. Aircraft include (as far as I can identify them): (front row) L-5 Sentinel and L-19 Bird Dog; (back row) L-17 Navion. Anybody having more information or comments on this photo is asked to contact me .
