Fliegerhorst Kaserne, Hanau

A B-24J ("Patsy," Aircraft Number 42-50662) of the 564th Bomb Squadron is mortally wounded by German Ack-Ack over Hanau, December 12, 1944. The installation with a triangular shape visibile on the center right of the photo is the Luftwaffe fliegerhorst in Langendiebach (Erlensee) that would be occupied by the US Army immediately after the end of the war and is still in use today.
