We cleaned the guns, assembled them, and learned their operation under the supervision of the visiting instructor.
We all wondered why we needed machine guns when we knew that the Russians could destroy the site with one bomb.
The reason given was that they were for protection from civilian communist attacks. After this day, the guns were stored in
the weapons room, and I never saw them again.
