Brenner Pass, Italian-Austrian Border

The Brenner Pass would become a major border crossing point along the main supply route between USFA (and points north) and USFA's Port of Leghorn (Livorno) during the Allied occupation of Austria. This photo was taken soon after VE-Day when elements of the 88th Infantry Division occupied South Tyrol (Italy) and the 103rd Infantry Division occupied North Tyrol. (North Tyrol would soon be turned over to French forces as part of their Occupation Zone.)
