I was a SSGT stationed at Infantry Kaserne in Augsburg in 1956.

The 188th Regimental nickname was the "Eagles." I don’t know when and where it was acquired, but it goes with the Regiments DUI and motto “Winged Attack.”

We also had a pocket patch with an eagle on a lightning bolt. The picture above is a couple of our gate guards standing by the sign.
