I NE Corps is located at Apeldoorn, the Netherlands in 1960. At this time it consists of two mechanized divisions:
1 Division at Amsterdam, the Netherlands
4 Division at Harderwijk, the Netherlands
2
109 Artillery, located at 't Harde, the Netherlands is formed in May 1959 and organized as the first Dutch Army HONEST JOHN rocket battalion. It consists of a headquarters battery and one firing battery with four HJ launchers.
3
109 Artillery is inactivated in July 1978.
4
119 Artillery is activated at Steenwijkerwold, the Netherlands in Nov 1960 and becomes the second HONEST JOHN battalion of I NE Corps Artillery.
5
119 Artillery is inactivated in July 1978.
6
129 Artillery is activated as the Corps Artillery's only LANCE missile battalion in 1978. The battalion has two firing batteries - each one is equipped with three missile launchers. (The dual-capable battalion is not "operational" until March 1979.)
7 19 Artillery is transferred to Corps Artillery as a pure 203mm howitzer unit in the late 1960s. (I have read somewhere that I NE Corps Artillery underwent some major changes during this period; so this is my working theory - I have not found direct confirmation for this yet.)
8 19 Artillery replaces its M115 with M110 self-propelled howitzers in the course of 1968.
9 1 NE Division, located at Amsterdam, the Netherlands is organized as a "LANDCENT type" mechanized division. This included the assignment of a nuclear capable division artillery battalion, the 19 Artillery battalion.
10 19 Artillery is activated as a nuclear capable divisional mixed artillery battalion in March 1960 at 't Harde, the Netherlands. The battalion is comprised of a headquarters and service battery, a towed 203mm howitzer battery (4x towed M115 howitzers) and an HONEST JOHN rocket battery (2 HJ launchers). The battalion is assigned to 1 NE Division.
11 19 Artillery receives its complement of W33 nuclear warheads for the M115 howitzers in 1962.
12 19 Artillery gives up its HONEST JOHN battery and replaces it with an M115 towed battery in Oct 1967. (The M115 battery is the former howitzer battery of 49 Artillery, 4 NE Division.) 19 Artillery is now a pure 203mm howizter artillery battalion. (At the same time as this reorganization, I NE Corps artillery undergoes a major reorganization. This probably includes a transfer of 19 Artillery to Corps Artillery.)
13 4 NE Division, located at Harderwiijk, the Netherlands was organized as a "LANDCENT type" mechanized division. This included the assignment of a nuclear capable division artillery battalion, the 49 Artillery battalion.
14 49 Artillery is activated as a nuclear capable divisional mixed artillery battalion in March 1960 at Steenwijkerwold, the Netherlands. The battalion is comprised of a headquarters and service battery, a towed 203mm howitzer battery (4x towed M115 howitzers) and an HONEST JOHN rocket battery (2 HJ launchers). The battalion is assigned to 4 NE Division.
15 49 Artillery receives its complement of W33 nuclear warheads for the M115 howitzers in 1962.
16 49 Artillery is inactivated in Oct 1967. The battalion's howitzer battery is transferred to 19 Artillery.
17 162nd Ordnance Company arrives in Germany in April 1960 and sets up shop in Lüdenscheid. The company is colocated with its higher headquarters, the 552nd US Army Artillery Group. The company's SW storage site is located at Stilleking.
18 162nd Ord Co - I believe the General Support mission for I NE Corps is handed off to the newly arrived 27th ORD Co in 1963.
19 27th Ordnance Company arrives in Germany in Feb 1963 and sets up shop in Büren. The company was colocated with its higher headquarters, the 5th US Army Artillery Group. The company's SW storage site was located at Haarener Wald (a.k.a. Stöckerbusch).
20 8th Missile Detachment arrives in Germany in June 1962. The unit is assigned to the 552nd Artillery Group and initially colocated with the 26th MSL Detachment.
21 8th MSL Det is moved to Havelterberg, the Netherlands in Feb 1963.
22 8th MSL Det is reassigned to the 570th Artillery Group in Sept 1964.
23 8th MSL Det is reassigned to the 552nd Artillery Group in June 1966.
24 23rd Missile Detachment arrives in Germany in June 1960. The detachment is initially assigned to the 570th Artillery Group.
25 23rd MSL Det is reassigned to the 552nd Artillery Group in June 1966.
