Here are some more snapshots of B-5 (La Bascule) being set-up in February of 1956. I thought some of these snaps were of D-3 (Poix-Terron), but the more I look at them, the more I realize that it is really B-5 because of the layout and proximity to the road in front. The work being shown in the snaps is either the original set-up of B-5 after the abandonment of D-3 OR the addition of dishes to the tower to transmit to 2 separate links. Personally, I think it is the original set-up. Unfortunately, only one of the snaps has a good picture of the tower. I was there from February 1956, through November 1957, so some of the memories still exist, even though some details are a bit foggy.

B-5 -- Setting-up in La Bascule c. Feb 1956. Our equipment van is on the left, maintenance van, site truck, and power units on the far left.
On the left is B-5's one and only Bill 'Jess' Jessup (Leather Jacket and Levis). The other two men are two the set-up crew to help us run
power lines, do tower work, and whatever. No power lines running to the power units in this snap.

B-5 -- Setting-up before the snow! Notice there are NO power lines from the equipment van. I shot the picture with the P.U. in back of me.

B-5 pretty well set up ... c. Feb 1956. Far Left are the power units. Renault site vehicle is on the left, supply van is on the middle right, with the equipment van and tower behind the supply van. Far right is fuel storage area. I shot the picture with my back to the road about 100 feet away.
I loved that PSP ... NOT!
