| The Schoenblick Hotel was located on the corner of Route 2 (Bundesstrasse 2) and Mittenwalder Strasse in Partenkirchen. It appears that it served, like many hotels in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, as a Germany military hospital in WWII. It was (probably) requisitioned by US Forces in 1945. (Webmaster has not yet been able to confirm the actual date.) AFRC used the hotel for officers, civilians and their families. In 1950, the hotel was being used as temporary quarters for dependents waiting for assignment to permanent billets. A date for when the hotel was released by the US Army has also not yet been determined. |
