I was stationed in Augsburg with 11 ABN from 1956-1958. I was at Sheridan Kaserne with Baker Co. 511th AIR and Charlie Co. 505th AIR. Was also at Flak and Gablingen Kasernes with 711 Maint. Bn. We spent alot of time in the field at Grafenweir and in our alert positions. But we also found time to go on leave to Ingolstadt, Munich and Austria. Appreciate hearing from anybody that was in Deutchland at the same time. Augsburg is a great place, I think about it quite often.

I'm looking for anyone who knew my father Thomas Walther known as Tommy and Tom. He was part of the HHB 210th Arty Grp in Germany from at least 1970-1972 he could have been there before 70. He had an old friend Glynn LeJeune I would love to get in touch with. I'm just wanting to find out what he was like he passed away when I was three months old and I never had the chance to know him. I've recently come across a few letters from Glynn as well as some others but they are fairly hard to read due to aging. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re my last entry. The hanger (may once have been used as a hangar) that I referred to possibly is now known as radio city. Looks familiar and may have been used for troop housing in Nov 52 due to large numbers of draftees being returned at the end of their two years. I recalled that there was a couple of ships per week heading stateside. Large backlog of troops at Camp Kilmer being shipped out for discharge at other camps.

Went home from BPOE in November 1952. Remember being housed in well built troop barracks but large contingents were housed in large aircraft or zepplin hangars. Mabe a couple hundred or more in one room. Can anyone confirm this or refresh my memory.

Hy,

I just want to send my best wishes to all the wounded U.S. Soldiers, who are brought to Germany for medical treatment. I saw an report on TV about the U.S. Hospital in Landstuhl/Germany and was shocked about the large number of wounded U.S. Soldiers. I want to tell them that instead of the position of the German Government, there are still people in this country who are suporting you!!!

God bless the USA and Germany!

Looking for former GI's stationed around Nuremberg, Germany from 1976 to 1986. Especially Nathan Peterson (Giebelstadt), Daniel Gsell (Kitzingen), Theodore (Nick) Nichols, Doug Huntzinger, Rex Roberts (Merrell Barracks), Jeff Boswell (US Army Hospital in Nuremberg) and anybody else who remembers hanging out at Mario's, Nicky's, Tasso's, The Komm-Center, Cobra Grill, Ponderosa, Green Goose, Irish Pub, Quatro Set, etc.

Some of my German girlfriends were Anita Weisser, Daniela Oswell, Andrea Schmidt, Connie Carlson. I used to have an apartment at the Plaerrer Platz, which was Party City in those days. If you remember the Beer-Fest, the Albrecht-Duerer Platz at the 'Burg', going wild in the Hospital Club and spending the summer weekends at the 'Deichs', email me.

Nice page with interesting infotmations.
Born in 1976 I can still remember the many US-Americans living in Zweibrücken. It was a nice time back then and as far as I can remember we had a good time with all the american people, especially the children in our neighbourhood. Since the US-Army is gone you can feel that Zweibrücken suffered cause of loosing like 20% of its population.
On the other hand we all ended the cold war together.
I hope some of the ex-soldiers that have been stationed in the "Pfalz" will remember this lovely place and do have nice memories.

I was a radio operator with the 7773 Sig Co in Berlin from 51 to 54, at Andrews Barracks. My main job was operating the radio on the trains which crossed the Russian zone. After the outgoing trip from Berlin, the radio cars would lay over at Helmstedt waiting for the trains coming from Frankfurt and Bremerhaven. The best part was that the bar in the Helmstedt Bahnhof was open all night.
