Linderhofe Communications Station
(Source: Lippsche Landes-Zeitung, date unknown)

Article explains that the station - used for communications relay and radar (detachment of 601st TCS) - became operational on May 1 1959. A self-supporting (lattice-type) antenna tower was constructed at the site with a height of 60 meters. The site was closed by the Americans in June 1993 and taken over by Britsh military. The British continued to use it as a relay site until April 1996 and then returned the site to the German government. The original tower has been dismantled (see photo, on right, at the beginning of the removal operations) and replaced by a new concrete one which is used as a mobile phone tower.
